Evaluation - Laura Norton
I believe that the techniqual quality of our teaser trailer is good as we were able to achieve everything we wanted when it came to ideas. I felt that our ident was very successful as it was simple but yet effective, it included an image of a man with a bow and arrow shooting at a target. The target would then slide across the screen with a sound effect of an arrow. I felt this was effective as it related to our production company name and the timing of the sound effect was accurate. We used four lots of text throughout our teaser trailer; I found this added tension to our trailer and also split the different shots up to help the story of the trailer. These were fairly easy to add to the trailer but also very effective. In our trailer we have a variety of music this was added by selecting different pieces of garage band clips and combined them together. We did have Foley sound (moves) in our trailer but we felt that it worked better without them. I also think that our editing of the trailer worked well as the transitions between each shot were equal. We also managed to keep our trailer under the twenty second time limit and still included everything we wanted. During filming we wanted to include a variety of camera shots, we manages to do this by using handheld shots, medium shots, long shots, extreme long shots and high shots. We used handheld shots to add more tension to the trailer and also to add mystery to the trailer and so the viewer doesn’t know who the victim is. I felt this idea worked well as it attracts the viewers’ attention. If I had to change anything about the trailer it would be the end of the sound track as I thought that is wasn’t as good as we could have made it.
The genre of our teaser trailer is horror; we wanted to make it apparent to the viewers by making the narrative clear by relating the tittle and characters to the genre. The characters were two opposite characters, one was an innocent young girl and the other was a dark and dull villain. The micro elements in our trailer also helped set the genre such as the handheld camera work, the cutting of the trailer (editing), the shaft of light and the location it was filmed in.
